Real Bread, Real Roots: The Rise (and rise) of Vine's Bakery

Tucked away in the heart of Lincolnshire’s Saxilby Enterprise Park, Vine’s Bakery is quietly leading a bread revolution—one crusty, hand-scored loaf at a time. With a motto as honest as its ingredients—“Real Bread. Handbaked. This Morning.”—this artisan bakery is proving that slow, thoughtful baking still has a place in our fast-paced world.

🥖 A Legacy in Every Loaf

Founded by Emma Vine, a fifth-generation baker, Vine’s Bakery is more than a business—it’s a continuation of a family story that began in 1904. Emma’s great-great-grandfather Edwin Vine opened the first shop over a century ago, and today, that same spirit of craft and care lives on in every bake.

Though their beloved Steep Hill shop closed in 2022 due to rising costs, the bakery didn’t crumble. Instead, it evolved—pivoting to a wholesale and click-and-collect model that keeps their signature sourdoughs, pastries, and legendary Kouign Amanns within reach of loyal fans across Lincoln.

🌾 The Kouign Amann Cult

Speaking of Kouign Amanns—if you know, you know. These caramelised, buttery Breton pastries have developed a near-mythical status among locals. One Tripadvisor reviewer called them “the best pastry I’ve ever tasted,” and honestly, it’s hard to argue. Whether picked up fresh from the bakery hatch or delivered to a local café like Caffe Portico, they’re a bite of joy worth seeking out.

🛒 More Than a Bakery

Vine’s isn’t just about bread—it’s about community. Their wholesale partnerships support local cafés and eateries, while their click-and-collect service makes artisan baking accessible without the frills. It’s a model that’s resilient, responsive, and rooted in Lincolnshire values.

📍 Where to Find Them

You’ll find Vine’s Bakery at Unit 9, Saxilby Enterprise Park, LN2 1LR. Open Thursday to Saturday, 9am–1pm, the hatch is your gateway to fresh bakes and warm smiles. Just don’t arrive too late—the good stuff goes fast.
